YMCA Day Camps are exciting, safe communities for children and teens.  Camp provides the atmosphere where kids can explore, build confidence, develop skills, and make lasting friendships and memories.  YMCA Day Camp is more than just place for kids to spend their summer vacations.  At camp, kids grow as they learn the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.  Campers a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social, and educational activities.

A tribute to classic fun, this week will keep your child on his/her toes as they start off each day with an exciting game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, or maybe Heads vs. Tails, and other favorites like bob the weasel.

Kids will build their own adventures using treasure maps engaging their imagination every step of the way. As they journey through camp looking for the red X, kids will use their sleuthing skills as they work closely with each other building new friendships along the way.

Wacky Water Week is one of the camper’s traditional favorites. You’re your child prepared to have fun as we get crazy with activities like the Wacky Hairdo Contest and much more.

Kids go bananas with excitement over this great week of music, dancing, and singing. All are encouraged to come to camp with their favorite dance moves ready to be showcased.

This week is chalked full of water games and sports. Campers love to take the surfer theme to the limit with a dress-up day and some totally rad ways of talking.

Referring to the works of one of the most creative writers of all time, our campers will unleash their creativity in writing, drawing and more bringing to life the stories of Dr. Seuss.

Campers enjoy the big top parade, homemade games and fun crafts that bring this theme to life. Included in this theme is bring your funny hat to camp day.

Shoot for the stars and stripes with us as we celebrate our nation’s history this week. Patriotic songs, games, and activities are designed to set off the excitement like fireworks in a colorful exciting adventure. Many camps are closed on 4th of July please check your location for details.

Knock, knock. Who’s there?  It’s summer camp and we’re looking to engage your little comedian in week-long activities that teaches him/her how much fun being fit can be.

Traveling around the world through activities and education, campers will see a different country each day.  While they learn about different cultures, they’ll also create an art project and learn how to say hello and goodbye in a different language each day.

Kids will work together in teams and on their own as they host their favorite game shows.  More collaboration than competition, our camCAMPERS come on DOWN to an exciting week of fun games, and exciting challenges that will make even the luckiest person petting their rabbit foot for more. Try your hand at stumping your fellow campers as you bring your best trivia question to camp one day.

Kids rally for their Pittsburgh favorites during the City of Champions week. Campers have fun being part of daily challenges that include games, songs, banners, a mascot competition and skits!

Children and teens will have opportunities to explore who and what they want to achieve during their 10 weeks at camp. Campers will go swimming at least once a week at The Woodlands Foundation utilizing their heated indoor pool, weekly field trips to explore many locations around the Pittsburgh area, as well as exploring the 13 acres of land that surround the camp’s location. This includes a covered pavilion, open land, Angleball equipment, playground, and various trails through the woods. During all of our activities throughout the summer we will incorporate YMCA’s 4 Core Values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. These values are what the YMCA has been built on and the characteristics that help to build strong relationships. Our activities will reflect back to each week’s theme.

Camp Voyager is unique due to its ability to share the space with the Baierl Family YMCA’s Special Needs camps. These camps will merge together at various points in the day to play games, create crafts, swim, etc. The children will be able to learn about acceptance and the YMCA’s Core Values will shine through more each day. Children of all ages will be accepted and valued, no matter what their abilities and differences may be. Having this opportunity will help the children grow to be respectful and understanding, but also how to be leaders beginning at a young age.

Our camp is broken up into 3 age groups; the Tiny Travelers (6 & 7), the Awesome Adventurers (8 & 9), and the Eager Explorers (10 & up).  Within our Eager Explorers, we will have campers who are involved in our Leaders in Training/Counselors in Training (LIT/CIT) program. These campers will have opportunities to work as a group to learn what it takes to be a loyal leader and reliable counselor. They will have their own counselor that will pull them away from the group at different times of the day. The counselor will have projects and activities for the campers that will help them understand what it takes to be responsible individuals and great role models. All of the campers will be sharing the different parts of the facility, but will have their own individual schedules for the majority of the day. This will allow the children to create lasting relationships with their peers and counselors. Each day, all of the campers will gather together to participate in a camp-wide event.

Our Day Camp program serves campers ages 3-13 years old and strives to help each individual camper feel success and to know they’re cared for in our full facility, which features a full size gymnasium, classrooms for arts and crafts, giant playing field, a large Gaga court, and much, much more. Our program is age progressive and appropriately challenging for each child. This summer we will be visiting a local pool for swimming, going to different parts of the city on field trips, and planning the best activities and big events here at the Penn Hills YMCA!  Day Camp’s goal is to give campers new experiences to gain self-confidence, build character and share a love for the outdoors.
